Grumpy Old Men Festival

Southeast Minnesota, courtesy of the Minnesota Office of Tourism
When:
27 Feb 2010 (annual)
Where:
Wabasha
Cost:
Free
Opening Hours:
8am
Celebrate winter with that grumpy old man's pastime of ice fishing, in the town that inspired the popular movie of the same name. Other activities include an ice shack contest, frisbee games, birdwatching and a spaghetti dinner and dance.
You may not run into Walter Matthau, or Ann Margaret, but you will see a few grumpy old men and lots of families enjoying themselves at the Grumpy Old Men Festival.

Originally a lumber town, Wabasha is the setting of Grumpy Old Men and its sequel, Grumpier Old Men. Although they were not filmed here, the screenwriter of the films was from here and thus has turned this quaint town into... a quaint town with a Grumpy Old Men Festival.
